Private Well Water Systems
"I'm
buying a house with a private well water system. Should I have the water
supply tested?" Testing your well water is the only way to be
certain that it is safe for you and your family. Pennsylvania does not
require permits for private well construction or testing of wells, however
some county or other local governments may require these. Also, many
financial institutions require certain water analyses for properties to be
sold. Pennsylvania DEP recommends you test your well water on a yearly
basis. Well testing also determines if your water pressure meets
standards by running water from an outside hose spicket through a hose and metering device which measures the number of gallons per minute.
